Statement of Goals
Writing a statement of goals would be much easier if I knew what my goals are. So I guess my biggest goal is to
figure out what goals I have.
Starting small with my immediate goals, I need to get through this semester without having a breakdown. So far
I’ve been pretty successful. With only a few short weeks left in the semester, my goal is to continue drawing motivation from
anywhere I can and accomplish a strong finish to the semester.
Over the summer I’d like to continue looking into job options and start looking for internship opportunities. I would
like to complete the job option research first so that I have a better idea of which internships will be right for me. However, I
also accept the fact that I will not know what I do and do not like unless I experience it for myself, so I may take internship
opportunities that I’m not interested in just to see what happens.
As for long term goals, I want to graduate with a BA in Writing Arts, a sense of belonging in the writing community,
and several internship/job opportunities even if I’m still not sure what I want to do. Having that certainty would be nice
though.
I know my goals are pretty vague but writing them out and looking at them make me feel a little better about where I
stand. I have notebooks full of lengthy to-do lists because writing down and organizing what I want to and need to do helps
me feel in control of my hectic schedule and crazy life. While I'm unsure of what I want to do with my degree, I at least have
goals to help me figure that out.
